Delta-Neutral Staking

Earn the staking yield of ETH without betting on its price: the ETH you stake is paired with a short of the same amount on the ETH perpetual, so a rise or fall is offset.

Steady Staking yield with the price hedged away - steady, but advanced to run.

Quick take

Staking ETH pays a yield, but a 20% drop in ETH can wipe out years of it. Delta-Neutral Staking pairs your staked ETH with a short of the same amount on ETHUSDT. If ETH falls, the short gains what the staked ETH loses; if it rises, the reverse. What remains is the staking yield, plus or minus the funding the short receives or pays.

What it costs

This strategy is open on every plan. What it trades is fixed by its design, so every plan runs the same scope; Standard is free.

How it works

The strategy holds a short on the USDT-margined ETH perpetual for the ETH you stake, 1 ETH by default, at the leverage you set, and every round brings the short back to that amount. The ETH itself is staked through the exchange's earn products, and both sides are meant to close once the staking yield and the funding rate are both low. While the short is open, it stops changing it when the leverage reads above your setting or the price comes closer to liquidation than your distance.

Real talk

The hedge is only as good as its size. The short is sized in the contract's own units, so check on the exchange that one unit is one ETH. When ETH rises fast the short needs more margin while the staked ETH gains in another account, and it can be liquidated if the perpetual account runs low. Funding is paid while shorts pay longs, which can cancel out the staking yield.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick glossary

Definitions for the trading terms used on this page.

Backtest
A simulation of how a strategy would have performed on historical price data. Past results never guarantee future returns - markets change.
Slippage
The difference between the price you expect and the price you actually get when an order fills. Worse on illiquid pairs and during fast markets.
Spread
The gap between the best buy price (bid) and the best sell price (ask). Tight spreads = liquid market, wider spreads = more cost per round trip.
Stop-loss
An automatic exit order that closes a losing position when price hits a chosen threshold. Caps how much one bad trade can hurt you.
Take-profit
An automatic exit order that closes a winning position once price reaches a chosen target. Locks in gains without relying on you to watch the chart.
Volatility
How sharply price moves. High volatility = bigger swings in both directions, which means more opportunity but also more drawdown risk.
